Scholastic's Fall 2018 picture books (and a giveaway!)

We know that spring is just settling in for most of you, but today we are talking FALL — the Fall 2018 Online Preview, to be exact. Each season, we ask authors and editors to record short videos about the most exciting new titles coming to shelves! With almost 40 books in the preview, we are going to focus on just the picture books this week!

The Scholastic Fall 2018 Online Preview features a brand new No David book just in time for the 20th anniversary of David Shannon’s award-winning original. Bestselling comics creator Jeff Smith brings us his first ever picture book: a story featuring Smiley Bone in an adventure all his own! Award-winning illustrator Rafael López transforms a classic song into a bright and colorful multicultural celebration. Plus, Barbara Kerley brings us a charming true story that marks her return to science and natural history!

I know I'm too late, but I

I know I'm too late, but I still wanted to comment on the book I'd most want to read. There were a few that piqued my interest, but I'd have to say that I see myself wanting to read and use "We've Got the Whole World in Our Hands" to teach acceptance and tolerance. We need more of these lessons in our classrooms today!

Hey, Kiddo! the autobiographical graphic novel by Jarrett J. Krosoczka is a book that is needed in Middle School for those students who are dealing with issues at home that they are not always eager to talk about.

I think that my students

I think that my students would love the story Good Morning, Snowplow. The illustrations look great and rhyming text is always fun to read aloud. I love stories that let students get a different look at things in their world. I feel that this book would help them appreciate members of the community that work hard for them while they sleep.

I would love to add Smiley's

I would love to add Smiley's Dream Book to our collection. I have a lot of students that have read all the BONE books and would truly enjoy reading Smiley's Dream Book.
