Two months and millions of minutes

We're officially two months into the 2018 Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge, and kids have logged 76,146,163 million minutes so far! Woohoo!

Here are some exciting summer highlights from the last month:

Sweepstakes:

  • The Educator Summer Reading Sweepstakes and the Library & Community Partner Summer Reading Sweepstakes ended in early June and we received thousands of entries! These sweepstakes were open only to registered users of the Summer Reading Challenge, and 10 winners each won a magical Harry Potter-themed prize pack.
  • We held a short summer reading sweepstakes on Twitter, and recieved over 100 entries in three days! Winners received a Summer Reading Challenge tote bag filled with bookmarks, door hangers and of course, books!

Press Coverage:

In an article about summer learning loss, eSchoolNews referenced the Scholastic Kids and Family Reading Report data about the “summer slide,” and included the Summer Reading Challenge as a helpful resource to help keep kids reading!

Local Events:

We recieved some photos from the Lowell, MA school district; they recently held a giveaway so they could send each student off for the summer with a book!

Summer Reading Road Trip:

  • We officially announced all the stops in a press release last Friday, and earned coverage in Parade and on The Penny Hoarder blog!
  • The RVs made their first stops last weekend, and there were some great posts on social media:

We can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the summer, and how many minutes kids can read!
