In Our Feeds: weddings, food and a pop quiz!

Every Friday, we share a handful of links that we found funny, provocative or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a great weekend!

A few weeks ago, we were talking about the new Dr. Seuss book, and now there’s a new one by J.R.R. Tolkien! The more-or-less previously unpublished (and unfinished) story is related to The Lord of the Rings, and will be available on August 27.

Summer is wedding season! A fanastic Harry Potter-themed wedding happened in New Jersey. "By the power vested in me by the state of New Jersey and all the magic at Hogwarts School of Magic, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” is how “Mitch the Minister” sealed the deal, and we think it’s pretty awesome. (“All the magic at Hogwarts School of Magic” is a lot of magic.)

More lovely book-inspired tattoos. (The Great Gatsby one inspires an immediate re-read…BRB.)

Inspiring: this is the second book-giving barber we’ve heard about. If this is becoming a thing, we’re all for it.

There’s still time: President Obama shares his summer reading booklist. (Spoiler: not too much fluff on this list!)

Writers on their favorite tools of the trade. If you can geek out over pens (we can!) this story is for you.

Aspirational literary cuisine: book and dessert pairings! (We’re hungry for the Hunger Games Apple & Goat Cheese Tarts!)

Speaking of food…Pop quiz! Can you name these famous foods from Harry Potter?

Speaking of Harry Potter (always): here’s an oddly mesmerizing video on how Legos are made. Can you spot the Harry Lego?

A terrific list of exceptional LGBTQ titles for grades 7-12. (Including Scholastic’s own Porcupine of Truth!)

Finally, the ten-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is later this month, and Literary Hub published a roundup of Katrina-related titles. Included are Scholastic’s own I Survived: Hurricane Katrina and Zane and the Hurricane.
