In Our Feeds: Literary vending machines, a Harry Potter wedding, and bookish fitness apparel

Every Friday, we share a handful of links that we found funny, provocative or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday, friends! What better way to kick off Memorial Day weekend than with some recommended reading? Here are the links that made the rounds in our office this week:

  • You've heard of vending machines. You've heard of libraries. But have you heard of a literary vending machine? It's every bit as cool as it sounds, and students have found a way to make this awesome invention come to life. (h/t Megan)
  • Megan also shared this touching NPR piece about a high school marching band in New Orleans. It's definitely worth a listen!
  • From New Orleans to New York, major cities are rich with history and the ghosts of the creative geniuses who've come before us. Mike sent over this list of 10 of NYC's most storied literary haunts. How many have you been to? (He also stumbled upon this collection of bookish fitness apparel. My favorite? "I lift [Harry Potter books] all day.")
  • And speaking of Harry Potter, Brittany sent over a piece about what might just be the most magical wedding of all time.
  • I'd be okay crossing paths with a Hogwarts student lookalike, but running into five Miss Havishams on the subway?! That's another story--one that folks traveling via the London underground know all too well. Michael shared this article about the way the BBC is promoting their upcoming adaptation of Great Expectations.
  • In my feed this week: this short documentary about why libraries matter, a great read on how Stephen King empowered one YA author when she was a teen, and this round-up of the best advice from the most-viewed commencement speeches.

Have a great weekend, all! Happy reading!
