In Our Feeds: Clifford, love notes, Severus Snape & more

Every Friday, we share a handful of links that we found funny, provocative or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a great weekend!

Today was an exciting day here at Scholastic. We celebrated Clifford the Big Red Dog’s birthday in the best way possible—by opening NASDAQ (Clifford’s birthday is February 14)! There were cupcakes, adorable kids and of course, the birthday-dog himself. Take a look at the Scholastic Instagram to see some of our photos from this morning’s big celebration!

And of course, you can’t talk about February 14 without mentioning Valentine’s Day. Lia spotted this beautiful collection of love notes found in used books that is sure to make you swoon. Will you be writing a love letter this Valentine’s Day?

This past week, both Gina and Deimosa stumbled upon YouTube user kcawesome13’s chronological version of the Harry Potter films, featuring Professor Snape. Believe it or not, this reworking of the films reveals the misunderstood and surprisingly tragic side of Snape that is easily overlooked throughout the film and book series. Warning, this video will put you through an emotional rollercoaster!

Deimosa also shared this incredible feat: the world’s longest book domino chain. The Seattle Public Library created a wildly impressive maze of books, spaced perfectly so that they fall like dominos all the way to the library’s front desk. And speaking of creating cool things with books, artist Brian Dettmer is definitely worth checking out. This New York–based artist makes stunning sculptures out of old books, breathing new life into outdated materials.

And finally, kick off your Valentine’s weekend with some of these other interesting reads from our feeds:

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
