Literary Characters We’re Crushing On So Hard, It’s Spooky

Admit it - there has been a time in your life when you opened a book and discovered a character who, for whatever reason, you fell completely head over heels for. Everyone has had at least one… or, if you’re like me, you’ve had about 20.

I asked around and here are the characters that people on our team have admitted to crushing on:

Alex: I’d have to go with Gale from The Hunger Games. Not only is Gale a rough and tumble kind of guy, he also has a compassionate side and isn’t afraid to show his love for Katniss.

Me: Latest on my list of fictional character crushes is Adam Parrish from The Raven Cycle series. Adam is ambitious and resilient, snarky but also quietly charming. I was immediately taken in by the way he works three jobs and is at the top of his class, but still manages to find time to go hunting for magical Welsh kings. The nuanced and complex nature of his character is a large reason for my affections for him. Though the way he occasionally spouts adorable southern witticisms certainly helps.

Julia: This isn’t a romantic crush, but I was totally obsessed with the Weetzie Bat series in high school, and could not get enough of the two main characters Weetzie Bat and her best friend Dirk. My own best friend and I shamelessly appropriated all their funny phrases (“slinkster cool”), and basically had no chill whatsoever when it came to Weetzie and Dirk.

Deimosa: I am Team Jacob all the way (The Twilight Saga). Edward is ice cold, literally and figuratively, and also DEAD; with him Bella is always a damsel in distress. Jacob’s body temperature is 108.9 °F (!) and also he is ALIVE. He does cool things like sleep and eat, fix motorcycles, and save her life from time to time. No contest. Jacob is the right choice.
