Let's celebrate Earth Day!

Today on OOM we're so excited to talk about  Earth Day! Held annually on April 22 since 1970, Earth Day is celebrated worldwide to support environmental protection. And everyone can do their part to make a difference! From recycling to planting a tree to biking around your neighborhood, no effort is too small. Check out our Earth Day resources for parents and kids!

One of our favorite new reads from Scholastic that shows just how powerful one kid's actions can be in his community is Saving Wonder (Ages 8-12) by Mary Knight. In this thoughtful debut, Curley Hines and his Papaw live in a mining town located in the Appalachian Mountains. When a new coal boss takes over the local mining company, life as Curley knows it is turned upside down as the mining company threatens to destroy their mountain. Curley must decide: Should he speak out against Big Coal and save his mountain, or does he remain silent?
