Flyer first look: Scholastic Reading Club October 2016

The Scholastic Reading Club “Book Boys” made a special appearance in this month’s “Flyer First Look.” They shared some of their favorite books while giving parents and educators a “sneak peek” into the October flyers.   • Fly Guy Presents the White House by Tedd Arnold – Buzz and Fly Guy take a trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the White House in another installment of this classroom favorite nonfiction series. This is a great pick for election season! Bottom of page 2

  • Lego Pop-Up: A Journey through the Lego Universe by Matthew Reinhart – Learn the story of Lego with this spectacular pop-up book – pull tabs, turn wheels, and more!

  • Tapper Twins Run for President by Geoff Rodkey – The Tapper Twins are back with presidential ambitions that span far beyond the classroom – the United States of America! It’s told in an oral history format, and the humorous voice is great for middle grade readers. This is the third book in the series and perfect for election season!

  • It’s Raining Bats and Frogs by Rebecca Colby; illustrated by Steven Henry – In this silly, rhyming read-aloud, the Witch Parade is at risk of being rained out, unless Delia changes the rain to something more tolerable first - like bats and frogs! It takes her a few tries to get there, though.

  • Meet the Bobs and Tweets by Pepper Springfield; illustrated by Kristy Caldwell – In the first installment of this zany illustrated chapter book series - written entirely in rhyme- Bobs and messy and Tweets are neat, and they’re both moving into a new neighborhood! This book - reminiscent of Dr. Seuss - is great for a study on rhythm and word play.
