Product Editor (Klutz)

Klutz creates activity books and other great stuff for kids ages 3 to 103. We began our corporate life in 1977 in a garage we shared with a Chevrolet Impala. For those of you who collect mission statements, here's ours: Create wonderful things. Be good. Have fun.

Klutz editors make wonderful things. Working collaboratively with a group of talented people, the editors manage the development of books, toys, and kits, producing kid-friendly products on time and on budget. The editors are responsible for maintaining the Klutz standards of clarity and style.

Everyone in the Product Development team at Klutz is responsible for bringing in new ideas and developing them into high-quality, innovative, fun, and accessible products that encourage kids to learn by doing.

The primary responsibility is to develop assigned Klutz books from concept to reality under the supervision of the VP, Product Development. The person in this position will:

  • Ideate and create toy and craft products from inception to final 

  • Act as project manager for each assigned product, ensuring that schedule is met at several stages in development

  • Develop content (through hands-on exploration and immersion in the topic) that engages, entertains and educates kids

  • Develop instructions and test with children, makers, and crafters, etc.

Director of Engineering Program Management

The Director of Engineering Program Management is responsible for ensuring that Scholastic’s engineering programs deliver on their roadmaps, on time, within budget, and with quality. This is the lead program management position in the engineering organization and is responsible for working across all engineering teams and associated business team to insure that successful program delivery occurs. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, develop and lead a top-notch team of strong program managers
  • Establish and drive program management policy, process, and metrics that program managers will use to govern individual programs
  • Ensure that there is a high degree of collaboration and dependency management across programs so that all milestones and budgets can be delivered
  • Maintain early warning systems and intervene and escalate issues in any program that is heading off course
  • Lead and run a monthly program review process to drive transparency and accountability across the organization

Senior Web Analyst 

Scholastic is hiring a web analyst to join the Data and Analytics team. The ideal candidate has strong business acumen, a thorough understanding of online marketing and knows the ins and outs of product design. The candidate will be the analyst lead for our digital properties that include commerce, content and apps. The person in this role will have the opportunity to take ownership over the audience development drivers for our most important digital properties.

Qualifications include: 

  • 3 to 5 years’ web analysis experience solving tactical and strategic problems across ecommerce, content sites and apps. 

  • Strong working knowledge of a best-in-class web analytics system e.g. Adobe Analytics (SiteCatalyst / Omniture), Google Analytics 360, Coremetrics. 

  • The credibility of the Web Analyst is both important and fragile so this candidate must be detail oriented, able to collaborate with diverse internal customers and maintain our group’s dedication to excellence. 

  • Analysis mastery with must have strong Microsoft Excel and experience. Bonus point for experience in Tableau, Domo or Qlikview. 

  • Strong command of the various aspects of online marketing: display, paid search, natural search, social media, affiliate, email, video and mobile advertising.
