Branch Manager, Scholastic Book Fairs (Location: Baton Rouge, LA)

We are currently seeking an experienced, results-oriented leader to manage our Warehouse location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The individual in this role will be directly responsible for planning, scheduling and directing the day-to-day operational activities of a mid-sized distribution facility in the Book Fairs Organization.

Responsibilities include:

Financial Management

  • In conjunction with Field Director of Operations, plan and prepare annual budget for Branch unit
  • Achieve financial results and manage business operating costs effectively
  • Achieve Branch budgeted goals, including direct operating costs, revenue per fair through quality production and timely service to customers, and overall branch profitability

Operations Management

  • Implement operational efficiency improvements and utilize capacity planning and operational metrics to achieve branch’s financial results
  • Ensure the branch operates in an efficient manner by utilizing effective methods of packing, set-up, delivery, pick-up of book fairs; utilize capacity planning and staffing methods to assure optimum productivity
  • Monitor, evaluate, and manage inventory utilization and inventory control procedures/processes to achieve company objectives

Business Analyst, Scholastic Technical Services (Location: New York, NY)

The Content to Commerce Business Analyst will work as the liaison between the Technology teams and assigned Business area(s). The individual in this role should maintain a familiarity with current business issues, objectives, and strategies of the assigned area, and recognize opportunities to optimally apply technology to enhance existing or build new business capabilities.

This individual will work closely with the Technical lead and Product Owner to identify requirements, decompose user stories with the appropriate acceptance criteria, and support product owners to prioritize the backlog. He or she must be able to effectively communicate with business stakeholders using business terminology as well as possess a technical background to enable business-IT alignment.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Partner with the business to develop, quantify, and track business and technical KPIs to measure improvement
  • Facilitate the collection of operational or business requirements, and communicate how they fit into milestones and minimum viable products for releases and track completion
  • Define, through written and verbal documentation, features and EPICs (higher level user stories) and decompose into user stories that developers can follow with clear acceptance criteria
  • Review project deliverables to ensure completeness & adherence to standards; Manage risks and issues
  • Monitor post-production processes to ensure accurate completion of all details
  • Provide input into project planning to support estimates for scope, effort, cost, and schedule; Communicate plans are properly defined, communicated, and accepted by key stakeholders
  • Clearly communicate requirements to Dev and QA to shape test scripts

Corporate Marketing Campaign Segmentation Manager (Location: New York, NY)

The Corporate Marketing division of Scholastic is seeking a marketing segmentation and campaign manager.  The position serves as the main contact and operational coordinator for all promotional mailing efforts, and is responsible for writing the requirements and coordinating the execution of two hundred complex promotional campaigns per year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and document campaign segmentations
  • Work closely with the marketing campaign database team and approve counts, promotional keys, file exports, reports, catalog configurations, etc.
  • Serve as a liaison to divisional marketing representatives, insuring that divisional goals are being addressed through strategic planning and proper campaign design
  • Develop yearly deployment budgets
  • Develop and document requirements for reports to support campaign processes
  • Understand transactional data gathered via numerous business channels and be able to deploy for synergistic cross-divisional purposes
  • Work closely with data mining group, both to develop and leverage statistically-based targeted marketing strategies and tactics, and to coordinate campaign selection efforts via predictive modeling and file scoring

Manufacturing Manager, Novelty Product (Location: New York, NY)

Our Manufacturing team is looking for a seasoned manager.  Previous experience in books or novelty product is ideal.  

Responsibilities include:   

  • Manage and coordinate prepress for Cartwheel Novelty, Book Club Original and Pick-up Novelty and Licensed Novelty Titles 
  • Create and implement prepress schedules from conception through completion of final product
  • Meet regularly with Production and Supply Chain staff to insure titles meet channel needs/dates
  • Manage prepress costs
  • Ensure that all products are safety tested
