Warehouse/Distribution Center Manager, (Danbury, CT; Scholastic Book Fairs)

Each year Scholastic Book Fairs, in partnership with schools across the country, hosts more than 127,000 book-sale events that give more than 35 million students and their families access to thousands of affordable and educational products, helping foster a lifelong love of reading. We are currently in search of a Distribution Center Manager to lead our branch team.

The Manager will have direct responsibility to plan, schedule, and direct the day-to-day operational activities of one of the largest distribution centers in the Book Fairs Organization. Among the responsibilities for this postion are evaluation and assessment of operations of the Danbury, CT Branch to ensure adherence to company standards and policies, and optimal performance.

Responsibilities include: 

Financial Management

  • In conjunction with Field Director of Operations, plan and prepare annual budget for Branch unit

  • Achieve financial results and manage business-operating costs effectively

  • Achieve budgeted goals, including direct operating costs, revenue per fair through quality production and timely service to customers, and overall branch profitability.

Operations Management

  • Implement operational efficiency improvements and utilize capacity planning and operational metrics to achieve branch’s financial results

  • Ensure the branch operates in an efficient manner by utilizing effective methods of packing, set-up, delivery, and pick-up of book fairs

  • Conduct annual and semi-annual warehouse sales to reduce inventory levels and maximize revenue stream

  • Monitor, evaluate, and manage inventory utilization and inventory control procedures/processes to achieve company objectives.

Senior Manager, Customer Credit

Reporting to the Director, Global Treasury, the Senior Manager, Customer Credit will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company’s customer open account credit exposures and establishing a robust framework for identifying and quantifying customer credit risk.

This position is primarily responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the customer credit and risk strategy and policy framework for the company’s operations.

The objective of the role is to optimize customer credit risk and ensure implementation of risk policies. To own and manage the independent customer credit/risk function across the full spectrum ranging from credit line origination to remedial management. .

Responsibilities include: 

  • Enforce the Company’s credit policy and adherence to accepted standards

  • Credit analysis and reporting

  • Establish and monitor customer credit lines

  • Customer deduction tracking and reconciliation

  • Assisting with identifying credit exposures in long term agreements and other vendor/supplier contracts

  • Help design and implement processes to improve cashflow and reduce receivables

Senior Designer

Scholastic is seeking a Senior Designer to manage the design and production of licensed books and products for the school market (book clubs and book fairs).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervise the design and production of approximately 25-35 titles/products per year 

  • Create and present cover and interior design options through all phases to final book 

  • Select, hire and work with freelancers, illustrators and artist reps 

  • Create mechanicals in accordance to the printer’s specifications 

  • Work with electronic file management and be responsible for archiving of projects 

  • Maintain and troubleshoot schedules with editorial and production
