Belly laughs with books

Books have the power to take us to new locations and experience new emotions. Books can make you cry, they can make you mad, and they can make you laugh. A lot. I distinctly remember being in an airport visiting my aunt abroad and laughing hysterically while reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. Today is Belly Laugh Day, we’re celebrating with a roundup of the books that make the OOMers LOL, chuckle, giggle, chortle, guffaw, snigger….well, you get the idea:

Jess: The last book that made me laugh out loud on the subway (and get odd looks from my fellow commuters) was Gorgeous by Paul Rudnick.

Morgan: Most of Where'd You Go, Bernadette? had me in belly laughs! More recently, though, I read Counting by Sevens, and it was a mix of belly laughs and tears. I love when books do that!

Michael: Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff  by Christopher Moore and The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith

Brittany:Bossypants by Tina Fey

Megan: Swamplandia! by Karen Russell is hilarious. The narrator's voice is so authentic – full of teenage angst.

What book had you in stitches?
