Announcing a spooky new interactive series

No one loves ghost stories more than middle grade kids—and no one can bring those kids a totally new haunted reading experience like the multiplatform team that created Spirit Animals and the 39 Clues!

Here at Scholastic we’re so excited to announce Shadow House, a brand new series with an app that doubles the spooky fun. Alongside the hauntingly-good books, kids will be able to download an app for phones or tablets that allows them to step inside the Shadow House for a new, immersive storytelling experience where their choices will determine how the story unfolds as they explore the history of the house and steer the ghosts inside. Enthusiastic readers will gobble up the scary stories, and the app will lure reluctant readers with additional dimensions and mysteries to uncover.

The books tell the story of five kids who have been invited to the sinister Shadow House for what they thought were innocent reasons—but once they’re inside, they realize they’re being haunted (or hunted?) by five ghosts who have lived in the house before. In the app, readers will get a second reading experience as they delve deeper into the lives of those ghosts and learn their stories—what brought them to the house, what happened to them while they were there, and how they became trapped within its walls.

The multiplatform project features the writing of Dan Poblocki, a champion storyteller who delivers the eerie adventures kids are looking for every single time, and kicks off this coming fall, the perfect time for curling up with a delicious, spooky read!
