8: An Animal Alphabet giveaway!

Did you know that gorillas yawn when they're nervous? That's just one of the facts you and your child will learn when you read Elisha Cooper's new picture book, 8: An Animal Alphabet. For every letter in the alphabet, Cooper has created beautiful illustrations of animals (example: F has a falcon, ferret, firefly, flamingo, flying squirrel, fox, and frog).

Today we're excited to offer a special giveaway for readers — it's a limited-edition print of the letter P page from the book, featuring a panda, a penguin, a pelican, a pig, and more adorable "p" letter animals. You can enter for a chance to win the print on Facebook by telling us your child's favorite animal. 10 winners will be chosen (deadline: Monday, October 26th at 11:59pm ET). Official rules here

Elisha Cooper fans should head over to his Facebook page, where he's posting behind-the-scene moments from the book and additional sketches each week. We love how he's inviting readers to check out his private artistic process!

If you're a parent with a child who's learning to read board books and picture books, keep an eye out for The Story Starts Here, a new campaign Scholastic is launching in November, which will feature book recommendations for young readers, downloadable activities, videos, and more.
