It's finally here: the Summer Challenge! Think kids will break the world record for reading again?

ROAR! We're just wild about animals and science

ROAR! We’re just wild about animals and science

By on February 12th, 2013

Did you know pandas spend upwards of 16 hours each day eating? Or that a narwhal’s tusk is actually a tooth?!

Science is so cool, and there’s always something new to learn. In fact, scientists estimate there are upwards of 8 million species of animals in the world, but roughly only 1.5 million have been identified. That leaves a lot of room for new discoveries!

The team at Scholastic Media got really excited as they researched all these science facts for their new game, Super Animal Genius, for LeapFrog’s LeapPad and Leapster Explorer learning system! And we know that kids have an innate sense of discovery and a thirst for knowledge, so this game appeals to that curiosity, introducing hundreds of facts about different reptiles, birds, amphibians and mammals around the globe.

Learning games such as Super Animal Genius offer a fun way to weave key science concepts, such as observation and identification, into playtime, as well as impart cool facts worth repeating! For example, did you know that the Komodo dragon is the world’s largest lizard? Just think…these are animals we know about and can study, but imagine all the animals yet to be discovered.

Do you have a favorite animal or animal fact?
