I SPY a new year—and a giveaway!
By Guest Blogger on January 4th, 2013
I SPY a brand new year! It’s Amabel Ryan from Scholastic Media here, with an awesome giveaway!
Over the holidays, fans on the official I SPY Facebook page had fun with I SPY challenges and expressed their love for all things I SPY. We blushed reading the comments, but it got us wondering what the all time fan favorite is among all the I SPYs—ever.
I SPY has entertained kids, parents, grandparents and teachers alike for well over 20 years (that’s a lot of brain-teasing fun!). Scholastic has taken I SPY to many levels over those years—from I SPY classics like I SPY Spooky Night to books like Ultimate Challenger to the active play of Ultimate I SPY on Wii or even the brain-teasing games on Leapster like I SPY Super Challenger. So, for some Friday fun—and our first giveaway of 2013—we’d like to hear from you!
Tell us about your or your child’s favorite I SPY experience for a chance to win a supercharged I SPY prize!
GIVEAWAY: Enter the I SPY Super Challenger giveaway for a chance to win your copy of the I SPY Super Challenger learning game for Leapster Explorer and a Leapster Explorer game system. To enter, tell us about your or your child’s favorite I SPY ever by posting a comment below that includes your email address by 5:00 PM (ET) on Friday, January 11, 2013 and you’ll be entered for a chance to win these great prizes. It can be any I SPY product—be it a book, video game, app, board game, etc. Five winners will be randomly selected from eligible entries. Read the official rules here. (Giveaway open to U.S. residents only; must be 18 or older to enter.)
Good luck!
UPDATE: We’ve randomly selected five winners! Congrats to Stephanie, Kris, Bonida, Shannon, and Charlett. Thanks for playing, everyone!

My son’s favorite I Spy experience was when the teacher had the I Spy A Scary Monster at school and he brought it home to read! Ever since, he asks mom and dad to get him more I Spy books!

My favorite I SPY book is I SPY Christmas. I also use I SPY as a classroom management technique. When my class is early for an assembly or special, I start a quiet I SPY game. I whisper a clue and my students raise their hands to guess what I’m describing. My students look forward to this quick game and if helps keep my class quiet and engaged!

The 1st book my husband ever bought my son was when he was 2 and it was I Spy School Days. He loved it and I loved to watch them read it together. My husband is not a shopper so I always remembered that moment!!!!

We have many I spy items: board books, pciture books, and several games. Our favorite is I spy ultimate for the wii. It’s awesome to play with the whole family with the images on the big screen!

I don’t think I could pick my son’s favorite, he LOVES them all. In order to put my son to bed for the night or a nap, we have to look at at least two pages in the I SPY book-whichever he chooses that day-then a regular story. If we skip the I SPY book, man… There’s trouble. Thanks for being an important part of my son’s reading repertoire.

I used to love going to the public library and playing the I Spy computer game with my younger brothers. It was a lot of fun and every scene always had so much to look at!

One of our favorite I spy things to do is sit by the Christmas Tree all lit up with bright lights and ornaments and play our own live version of I Spy. One of us says “I Spy” an ornament and then the others try to find it. It’s good fun quality time.

I Spy is something we enjoy as a family, mom and dad included! My children, ages 3, 5, and 7, all love I spy books! We always choose a new one when we go to the library. They race to see who can find the items first. We enjoy “Ultimate I Spy” during family Wii nights. We also play our own I Spy on car rides. “I Spy with my little eye, something …” I Spy is a big part of our family fun times!

My oldest loved the I spy books, but not nearly as much as my youngest. We read and re-read the books and try to find the pictures. She got the I spy Haunted Mansion game for the computer for Christmas and the I spy Castle for the DS, then she had money to spend and decided on a 2-pack I spy game for the DS. We also try to find things that aren’t on the list and have just as much fun.

The first I Spy book my sone looked at he was hooked. He loves to read and the I Spy books are his favorite. He can look at the same ones over and over and over again. He owns a few and likes to check them out at the library. I got him a couple Wii I Spy games for his birthday last year. He is 8.

We have used this in the enrichment classes for all levels in the school. It shows us cognitive skills and the EVERY kid can engage in this and feel a sense of completion as they all locate different items. We LOVE it!

How can I pick a favorite?? The one sure way I have found to occupy my kids and grandchildren is to pull out an ISpy book! Even makes road trips MUCH easier!
