Action! Thrills! Laffs! It’s the Captain Underpants App!

TRA-LA-LAAAAA! There’s a lot of exciting Captain Underpants news to celebrate this week! Not only was Captain Underpants and the Revolting Revenge of the Radioactive Robo-Boxers, the tenth epic Captain Underpants adventure, published on Tuesday, but now we have another amazing announcement for fans. Today, Scholastic and Apple announced the launch of “The Adventures of Captain Underpants” App for iPad, available exclusively in the App Store. Now there’s a whole new way to play and interact with your favorite Captain Underpants characters…in color!
Action! Thrills! Laffs! And more! We’ve got all the details on just how cool this app is. Dive into the world of the Captain in the Book-O-Rama, which presents the entire first epic novel The Adventures of Captain Underpants for the first time in color and in high resolution. Play zany, fun and interactive games: help Harold and George hypnotize their teacher Mr. Krupp! Race against the clock to chase Captain Underpants through the city in a challenging maze game! Battle with Dr. Diaper and his nefarious robot minions to destroy the Laser Matic 2000 and save the world—before it’s too late! You can also create your own avatar and choose a silly “Captain Underpants name,” literally putting you in the app where you’ll see your avatar right alongside Captain Underpants.
“The Scholastic app team did an awesome job!” said Dav Pilkey. “I really think kids are going to have a lot of fun reading the book in full color, playing the crazy games, interacting with the characters—and creating new ones of their own!”

A lot of parents (lot me and my wife) are much more willing to let a kid a smaller, less expensive and tougher device like the Kindle Fire than an iPad. Unfortunate this is iPad only.

Will this become available to Android users? My son and I love Captain Underpants and would really enjoy being able to use the new app.

Hi, all! Thanks for your comments. Scholastic carefully evaluates platforms on a case by case basis for each app we publish. In the case of Captain Underpants – iPad was chosen to deliver the best possible user experience – but we will continue to evaluate additional devices / platforms in the near future!
