It's finally here: the Summer Challenge! Think kids will break the world record for reading again?

Did we read what we said we'd read this year?

With only 15 days until the New Year, most folks are scrambling to tie up loose ends and make exciting plans for the New Year. But if you’re anything like us, you’re worrying about books.

When I kicked off 2012, I vowed to read 30 books in 365 days. As of yesterday, my count was up to 29. I plan to spend the holidays reading my thirtieth, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. I’ve read quite a few magic-themed books throughout the year and this seemed like the perfect title to close out my list. My year-end quest got me wondering if my fellow OOMERs had similar goals and if they had any reading resolutions for 2013. I decided to check in and find out!

Morgan  – All year I’ve been hoping to re-read all 7 Harry Potters…and I STILL haven’t gotten around to it. So my new goal is to read at least book 1 by the New Year!

Lia – This year, I didn’t read as much as I said I would. So my 2013 goal is to always be reading something. Too often I finish a good book and then wait a while before starting something new. No more of that!

Anne – I had wanted to read more historically-based works as well as nonfiction. Right now I’m easing my way in with The Paris Wife!

Megan will be doing a post in the New Year about our reading resolutions, but here’s a hint: my resolution for 2013 is to read 40 books, including some more non-fiction. First up on my list are In the Garden of the Beasts by Erik Larson and Shock Value by Jason Zinoman.

Are you doing any holiday reading? What are your 2013 reading resolutions? Let us know in the comments!
