It's finally here: the Summer Challenge! Think kids will break the world record for reading again?

Kristy for President!

Kristy for President!

By on November 6th, 2012

Happy Election Day!! The country is voting for the next President of the United States, so at OOM we decided to make our own list of literary characters we’d like to see in the White House.

President: Kristy Thomas from the Baby-Sitters club.

And for The Cabinet of the United States:

Secretary of Agriculture: Hagrid. As groundskeeper at Hogwarts, he takes care of magical creatures and grows giant pumpkins. He’d be perfect to see oversee the growth of food, farming, and agriculture for the nation.

Secretary of Defense: Katniss Everdeen. She is so passionate about defending the districts from the Capitol.

Secretary of Education: Ms. Frizzle. How much fun would that be?

Secretary of Homeland Security: Harriet the Spy. This one needs no explanation.

Secretary of Labor: Hermione Granger. She started S.P.E.W and really cares about labor laws for elves, wizards, and muggles!

Secretary of Energy: Willy Wonka. He is constantly coming up with new ways to create is sugary masterpieces – chocolate mixed by waterfall? I’m sure he could come up with new technology for energy efficient resources.

Attorney General: Atticus Finch. I can’t think of anyone more fitting to be the head of the Department of Justice.

The Cabinet still needs Secretaries for: Commerce, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs.

What literary characters do you think could fill these positions? Let us know in the comments!
