An intergalactic reading adventure

Did you know that on Saturday, there were more than 1,000 events across the country celebrating Star Wars and READING?
Right you are, young padawan! It was Star Wars Reads Day!
For the first time ever, Lucasfilm, along with its publishing partners, celebrated all of the incredible Star Wars books in print. Events were hosted in libraries and stores across the country…and of course, we hosted a party of our own at The Scholastic Store!
Our event included Trivia, a Costume Parade, Stormtroopers (thanks to our local 501st Legion)…
Our special guest was Matthew Reinhart. His new book, Star Wars: A Galactic Pop-Up Adventure comes out on October 16th and frankly, is just super cool! In one of the five spreads, which includes a working light saber, Anakin transforms to Vader as the book opens!

Matthew signed copies of his first Star Wars book, Star Wars: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy, and taught a group of kids (and several adults) to make their own Darth Vader ‘pop.’ The amount of work that went into this one piece means that the more elaborate characters and scenes in the books mean hours and hours of work.

The trailer for the new book can be found here.
If you are in NYC during October, be sure to stop by to see the window devoted to the book as well!
