In Our Feeds: authors who illustrate, literary fashion, and office dinosaurs!

Each Friday, we share a handful of links we found interesting, provocative, funny — or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a good weekend!

Let’s start the weekend with an inspirational story Alex found: Mary Gannon, a teacher at Harding Middle School teaches kids they can do anything they want to do. She was born without arms and learned to overcome he struggles to achieve her dream of teaching.

Did you know J.R.R. Tolkien wrote AND illustrated The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings? He drew the maps as well as pictures that appear in some editions of the book. Take a look at this link Dante found and see 9 other authors who illustrated their own work.

Megan shows us that books are everywhere, even in fashion!  Will we be seeing “literary chic” next fashion week? I hope so!

Do you have any dinosaurs on your desk? Morgan shared this infographic of endangered species in the office.

Technology in education is literally growing. Lia shared this interesting article about a bus with educational technology in Mississippi.

Are you up on the latest academic lingo? Check out the five buzzwords you’re likely to hear in education this school year.

Get the weekend started with “Read Me, Maybe!” Be sure to watch for the Harry Potter reference at the end!

Happy Friday!
