Are you ready for some more football?

Maybe, just maybe you’ve noticed that football has officially started.  I LOVE football season.  It is so much fun and gives friends and family the perfect excuse to gather together on Sundays – making the bliss of weekends feel just a bit longer.  With the renewed energy surrounding the game, we’ve been seeing a lot more of NFL stars lately whether in commercials or in the news.  We’re used to them making us laugh or updating us on wins or heartbreaking losses.  Today, I have a new piece of info they can provide you – book suggestions!  As part of our global literacy campaign, Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life., we’ve been in touch with celebrities of all sorts to find our their Bookprints and hopefully inspire readers to pick up a new book.  We have a few football stars that took the time to tell us which five books have been the most influentual to them.  Check it out:

Eli Manning has a passion for Catcher in the Rye and Where the Red Fern Grows.  You can also see his love of history in his Bookprint.

Justin Tuck is a literacy champ with his charity R.U.S.H. for Literacy.  His fave books include The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Outliers.  Check out the rest here.

From the Eagles, we have Nnamdhi Asomugha.  He fondly remembers Oh, The Places You’ll Go and The Giving Tree among others.

He made history as an Eagles Quarterback but took the time to share his five books, Donvan McNabb is a fan of Green Eggs and Ham – aren’t we all, really?

To see more Bookprints and all things literacy, check out www.scholastic.com/readeveryday  Sign up to be a Litearcy Champ while you are there!
