Kid Reporter Shelby Fallin interviews Mitt Romney during the 2008 Election

The race to the Presidency is on, and the Scholastic News Kid Reporters have the scoop! For the next two weeks, Kid Reporters will report from the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, bringing you all the latest news.

First up, Kid Reporters Shelby Fallin and Topanga Sena will cover the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida beginning tomorrow. Shelby joined the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps four years ago, and some of her first stories were about the historic 2008 Election. Topanga joined the Press Corps two years ago, and has interviewed both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during her time as a reporter!

Next week, Kid Reporter Andrew Liang will cover the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Andrew is a seasoned young journalist, and has covered everything from education and politics to breaking news for the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps.

The Presidential Election is a great time for teachers and parents to use a current event to talk to kids about the electoral process and the history of the Presidency. All of the Kid Reporter coverage will appear at www.scholastic.com/election. Kids will also find fun games and interactive maps to help them understand the 2012 Election better! Don’t forget that kids can also participate in the Scholastic Student Vote, where they can cast their ballot for the next President of the United States!
