Getting “schooled” on our Facebook page
By Scholastic on August 16th, 2012
After a fantastic BlogHer event, we knew there was so much more to talk about with our teacher and parent friends when it comes to the subject of technology and literacy. So we asked Leticia, aka Tech Savvy Mama, to stop by our Facebook page for a live chat yesterday. It was full of valuable info from her and the excellent fans who participated — so a big thank you to everyone involved!
Leticia took questions and offered advice and resources for back-to-school, ereading, elearning, and more. Take a look at the conversations:
- One of the biggest challenges for parents can be finding books that are just right for kids. How do you find books that are of high interest to your child but at the right reading level?
We won’t find out who our kids have as their teacher until the Friday before school starts. We’ve been fortunate to have great teachers thus far but how do you cultivate a great parent-teacher relationship?
When my kids come home, they need to release steam from being cooped up in the classroom and sometimes getting started with homework can be a challenge. How do you motivate your kids to practice what they’ve learned at school once they get home?
Are you ready to start doing homework again? Did you know that 36% of moms go online at least once a week for information on helping their child with homework? What kinds of information are you looking for and what resources do you enjoy using?
