Dav Pilkey talks Captain Underpants
By Dante on August 23rd, 2012
Captain Underpants returns next week (August 28, to be exact) in the new book Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers. And no one is more excited than Kid Reporter William Russell. Sure, he’s a Captain Underpants fan. But the release of the book provided the opportunity to interview the creator of Captain Underpants, Dav Pilkey!
Back in June, William sat down with Pilkey for a one-on-one at Scholastic global headquarters in New York. William was a little nervous, as you’d expect, but he asked some pretty good questions — How did Pilkey come up with the idea for Captain Underpants? Was Pilkey always interested in writing and drawing? — and he found out who some of Pilkey’s childhood heroes were. Some of the answers might surprise you, but the interview will absolutely get you excited to catch up with George and Harold as they go on their next epic adventure.
William’s interview is a short history of Captain Underpants, as well as an insightful look into the creativity of Dav Pilkey. Watch the interview below, and check out William’s review of Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers on the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps website.
