I’ve had the pleasure of introducing you to the 2012 Scholastic Art & Writing Award-winning students over the past few months and I have another that you just have to learn about now! Sarah Devlin is a talented filmmaker from New Orleans who took home the gold this past year – and a $10,000 scholarship – for her portfolio of films. They range from music videos to documentaries, from English to French!
A personal favorite among her videos is Writer’s Block. When I spoke to her about it she revealed she was only 14 when she made it – 14, do you believe it?
Check it out:
You can view all her videos on the Alliance for Young Artists & Writer’s YouTube channel. Start watching! You can also learn more about Sarah with this great article from The Times-Picayune or if you are still in video-watching mode, check out this piece from WWL-TV.
If you know of an aspiring filmmaker, make sure they know the 90th year of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards starts accepting submissions from students, grades 7-12, on September 17. Be bold!
Which of Sarah’s videos are your favorite?
