Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life. It’s that simple. Providing children with tools, opportunities, and support to help them read every day will build a strong foundation to succeed in school and life—to get a job, understand their surroundings, and most importantly, know themselves. And in today’s world full of digital information, it’s increasingly important to foster a love of reading in children. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our newly revamped Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life. website, which features a robust collection of free resources that promote the value of reading.
There’s an important role for you in this campaign: we’re inviting parents, educators, and readers alike to join our global literacy effort by becoming a Literacy Champion. All you need to do is commit to helping a child read, whether it be by reading to them aloud, giving the gift of a book, or being a positive role model and picking up a book yourself. You can also browse our growing list of national and local organizations that provide kids with access to books and encourage reading. We’re sure they would appreciate your support. If you know of an organization that should be on that list, let us know!
There’s something for everyone on this site.
If you’re a parent, you’ll find free resources for your family, such as reading activities, printables, and booklists for all ages. There are also parent tips, literacy milestones for young readers, and a helpful list of five things you can do today to get involved.
If you’re a teacher, you’ll discover a wealth of free classroom resources, from a participation guide for all grade levels filled with printables, activities, and a letter home to parents, to information about Scholastic’s new apps, Storia and the Reading Timer.
And for book lovers of all ages and to inspire young readers we have something very special: hundreds of famous authors, entertainers, actors, athletes, and leaders have shared with us the five books that have shaped their lives (what we refer to as a “Bookprint”). Browse our list of celebrity Bookprints and discover the favorites of Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Suzanne Collins, Nick Cannon, Bill Gates, Jeff Kinney, Al Roker, and R.L. Stine, to name just a few.
