An e-Xcellent time at BlogHer!
By Guest Blogger on August 6th, 2012
Emily Burns, intern in the corporate productions team, helped organize a huge event on Saturday: a mom blogger breakfast we hosted at Scholastic Headquarters in celebration of BlogHer 2012! Read on for a peek behind the scenes. Thanks, Emily!
On Saturday, Scholastic had the pleasure of hosting nearly one hundred mom bloggers for an “e” themed breakfast: “eReading, eLearning, and eLections!” The morning was hosted by the fabulous Tech Savvy Mama (aka Leticia Barr) and was jam-packed with tweeting, great food, giveaways, and mini info sessions. The morning was a huge success, and we’re so grateful to all who attended!
Experienced mom and teacher Christy Crawford gave a great demonstration on how to utilize Scholastic’s new Storia app in the classroom and at home. Next, Scholastic’s own Maggie McGuire gave guests a sneak preview of what’s to come this fall for the new Scholastic Parents site. And last but certainly not least, Scholastic Kid Reporter Grace McManus interviewed the Editor-at-Large for Scholastic Classroom Magazines, Suzanne McCabe. They discussed Scholastic’s coverage of the upcoming presidential election, the Scholastic Kids Press Corps, and whether or not we’d like to be president! (We took a flash poll, and the majority of attendees answered a resounding no!)
During Saturday’s event, the bloggers tweeted using the hashtag #eScholastic. We’ve put together a Storify of some highlights, or check out some of these great tweets from guests:
