National Teacher Day in your words

National Teacher Day in your words

By on May 8th, 2012

Today is National Teacher Day! We asked our Twitter followers to tweet a line about their favorite teacher using #thankateacher, or, if they are a teacher, to tell us why they teach. The response was truly remarkable. Then again, I’m not surprised, considering how many wonderful teachers there are out there.

One person said “My brilliant 11th grade English teacher taught me to love books.” Another, “I’m eternally grateful to the teacher who encouraged me to keep writing.” And simply, “my mama was mine.”

And from the teachers: “I teach so kids will discover everything the world has to offer them. I teach so kids will find the worlds inside of books.” And, “ I’m doing what I love to do. Teach! Teaching is my passion & it’s my heart.”

We pulled your words together in a word cloud and thought we’d share it here. If you haven’t thanked a teacher yet, what are you waiting for? It doesn’t have to be National Teacher Day to share your appreciation.
