The third annual Definition Competition — a live vocabulary event where students compete for word domination — is Tuesday, May 1st at 1pm (ET)! Not only will this live webcast put your students’ word power to the test, it also kicks off a whole summer of reading with the Scholastic Summer Challenge.
Haven’t registered yet? No problem! Teachers of grades 1 – 3 who register by 5 pm (ET) Thursday, April 26 and log in to watch the webcast on May 1st are automatically entered into an online sweepstakes where they have a chance to win a PLETHORA (n, an excess of) of WordGirl prizes.*
The Definition Competition will engage students in three game-show style rounds (plus a bonus round!), where their vocabulary skills will be put to practice through questions pertaining to word usage, reading comprehension, definitions and using words in different contexts.
