In Our Feeds: Teachers who rap, Dickens, Pottermore and more
By Yanique on April 20th, 2012
Every Friday, we share a handful of links we found interesting, provocative, funny — or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a good weekend!
Let’s start with some Dickens…Charles Dickens that is. This year the novelist turns 200! The Guardian celebrated his literary life with a chart dedicated to Dickens’ greatest books. Which novel is the most Dickensian? Did any of your Dickens favorites hit the chart?
We all can agree that teachers have one of the hardest and most important jobs ever. Every teacher has their own way of teaching and motivating kids to learn every day. Teachers at Jennings High School in St. Louis, MO came up with one of the most innovative and interesting ways to motivate and prepare their students to take their end of term tests. Take a look at the video here. The biology verse was by far my favorite. I’d say these teachers did an excellent job.
Ever wish you were in Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice? Dream of joining The Three Musketeers? Well, now you can (sort of). MediaBistro’s GalleyCat reported that U Star Novels will reproduce a paperback version of your favorite novel, starring you and your friends…for a small fee. Book lovers everywhere are sure to have fun with this. Click here to see how you can get your personalized classic.
After months and months of waiting, J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore has finally opened. The site is awesome! Fans will be given their very own wand, purchase a pet owl and more. Read all about one member’s fun experience on the site here.
More Potter news! J.K. Rowling has revealed that she is currently working on a Harry Potter Encyclopedia. This will surely be a bestseller and Ms. Rowling plans to donate all the royalties to charity. Great, now we will all be waiting with anticipation all over again!
Hope you enjoyed our feeds as much as we did. Have a great weekend. Until next time…what’s in your feed?
