It's finally here: the Summer Challenge! Think kids will break the world record for reading again?

In Our Feeds: Harry Potter, books of the "future", and cute ducklings

In Our Feeds: Harry Potter, books of the “future”, and cute ducklings

By on April 6th, 2012

Each Friday, we share a handful of links we found interesting, provocative,  funny— or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Enjoy!

I love this list of  top 5 female characters in children’s books! Go Hermione Granger and Amy Cahill (from 39 Clues)! Any other female characters from children’s books you think should have made this list?

There’s a new way to read about Hermione’s adventures! Alex learned that the Harry Potter books set a new record for library downloads!

But how will people be reading after e-readers? Megan found this wonderful and funny cartoon about books of the “future!”

And while we’re talking about the way of the future, Morgan found this interesting article about internet glasses. You can take pictures, get directions, go shopping while walking around…all from your eyeglasses!  Sounds like something people who live in the Capital and District 1 would wear in Panem!

Lia, the organizing guru and president of the Post-It fan club, found this great article about making the most of your to-do list…no matter where you write it (on post-its, your phone, or with pen and paper). In honor of National Poetry Month, Lia found this article from March about bringing back “Poetry in Motion” in New York subways. Lines of poetry are positioned on posters at eye level, allowing millions of subway riders to enjoy them on their commutes.

And finally, the award for finding the cutest link of the week goes to Tyler! He found this amazing and adorable post about offering people (or in this case, ducklings) the tools they need to succeed!

Enjoy and have a great weekend!
