What did you read aloud on World Read Aloud Day?
By Morgan on March 7th, 2012
A huge thank you to Pam Allyn, literacy advocate and education expert, who took over the Scholastic Facebook page today to talk about World Read Aloud Day, books, tips for struggling readers — and a little bit of Harriet the Spy for good measure!
World Read Aloud Day events were happening all across the globe today, and Pam — the founder of Lit World — was the driving force behind all of them. We’re so thrilled she stopped by our page to chat. Here’s some of what she covered:
- Pam received a question on Twitter about how to help the uninspired reader, and turned to our Facebook fans to see if they had answers. She got some great answers here!
- After another fan question about the importance of kids’ writing, she said, “there’s no better way to learn to write than to read hungrily.” We couldn’t agree more — and it looks like you couldn’t, either.
- She also wondered what your own kids’ favorites books to read (and read aloud!) were. Check out the community’s answers here.
We had lots of fun talking with you all today on our Facebook. For more, check out Lit World’s Facebook page and follow along on Twitter at #readaloud!
