FREE teaching resources on Scholastic.com for St. Patrick’s Day

As we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, many of you may be looking for new and exciting lesson plans and ideas for the classroom—well look no further! Scholastic has created a number of FREE resources that will help teach students about leprechauns, pots of gold and much more!
Scholastic.com free teaching resources for St. Patrick’s Day include:
●A Scholastic.com “Everything You Need” package for the classroom includes ideas for student activities and teacher tips on “Leprechaun Traps”, a persuasive writing lesson on “Kissing The Blarney Stone” and a number of St. Patrick’s Day books available through the Teacher Store.
●A package of lessons which offer engaging activities for students, such as the “Mischief o’ the Leprechaun” where students are encouraged to research the sneaky leprechaun who snuck into their classroom! Another lesson, “Have You Seen My Pot of Gold” allows students to use mini-books and make puppets to act out their understanding of this holiday.
●The “March Into Shamrock Season” unit guides students understanding using vocabulary and a number of crafts. Students will paint shamrocks, brainstorm different green words, grow live shamrocks, and practice certain Gaelic phrases.
●A collection of photos and articles from the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps kid reporters conduct interviews and publish articles on the history of St. Patrick’s Day and explain how the holiday originated. Stories are paired with closing questions to allow additional classroom discussion around the text.
