Catch the Toyland Express at The Scholastic Store in SoHo!

One of my very first pieces on OOM was about an amazing display by Walter Wick in the Broadway window at The Scholastic Store. That set was from the book Can You See What I See? Treasure Ship. I am excited that we are once again featuring one of Walter Wicks‘s creations in our Broadway window this holiday season and it is simply breathtaking!
Walter Wick has a new book out this fall called Can You See What I See? Toyland Express, which follows the journey of a train from creation to the toy store to a dusty attic and finally into a new home after being sold at a garage sale. The window features the ‘Store Window’ scene (which makes our display a ‘Store Window’ in our store window…I am not sure how to represent that mathematically but I am going with STORE WINDOW².) It features the Toyland Express (hand made in Wick Studios) along with a selection of nostalgic toys that will transport just about anyone back to their childhood!
Walter Wick also created an exclusive riddle just for our window! Guests can search for items, some of which were added specifically for the new riddle, using a card displayed on the exterior of the window. The card also has a code for a video about the making of the book (and can be used for a discount inside the store.)
I had the unique opportunity to watch the team from Wick Studios assemble the display yesterday, along with our own window designer extraordinaire, John Ebbert. Here’s a few photos of the tremendous job they did:
PS- If you visit us and are having trouble finding the fourth rabbit in the window, look right! Happy Searching!
