Lights, camera, READ: A Bookprint recap of the Emmys
By Anne on September 19th, 2011
Did you watch the Emmys last night? If you were following @Scholastic on Twitter, you know we were and we had fun connecting just how many TV stars have Bookprints on You Are What You Read! Last month, fellow OOM-er Ivy reminded us that celebrities are readers just like us, and last night proved the small screen’s big stars are among those that recognize the importance of books.
Our Bookprint nominees started off with a bang as Jim Parsons took home Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Sheldon Cooper in “The Big Bang Theory.” Jim told us the five books that influenced him most — and we love that his picks start with him as an 18-month-old pointing to pictures in The Sears Catalogue! We agree, Jim, what an ingenious way to start vocabulary early! Read about that memory and why each of his five books influenced him here.
Meanwhile, the night was filled with more Bookprints from unexpected places. Wilmer Valderrama, who sang with the EmmyTones band, gave us his Bookprint, and many other celebs from last night’s show are also featured on YouAreWhatYouRead.com — including some Gleeks (Harry Shum Jr. and Kristin Chenoweth) and nominees Kathy Bates, Rashida Jones and Archie Panjabi.
We had lots of fun sharing celebrity Bookprints last night — thanks to everyone who joined in the conversation! The list of more than 200 Names You Know keeps growing! Which celebrities have books in common with you?
