There is a full description of the workshops and instructions on how to register at bit.ly/teacherweek.
For those of you who can’t attend, we’ll be featuring several guests posts next week from presenters and our colleagues in Scholastic Education but to kick it all off, we are giving everyone a chance to win a prize pack of Teaching Resources and back to school necessities for the classroom. Just comment below with your favorite Back to School tradition. We will choose a lucky winner on Monday 8/12/11. Please see a full set of rules here.

My favorite back-to-school tradition is going back-to-school shopping for new supplies, and getting into my room to prep everything for a fresh new start with a new group of kiddos.

My favorite back to school tradition is getting everything ready for my new class. From name tags to setting up my room. Also, getting to see everyone at my school for the first time, old stuents, new students, past parents, and of course my teacher friends. Oh, and I’m not gonna lie…my first paycheck from summer!! :-)

My favorite back to school tradition is writing personalized letters to all of my new students. I tell them what I have been doing over the summer and some of the fun things I have planned for the coming year. I also tell them that I can’t wait to meet them at open house.

I love getting my new, fresh plan book. I love the feeling of a brand new start with new children. Writing the first week of lesson plans always makes me so excited, even after 22 years of teaching!!!

My favorite back to school tradition is planning for what didn’t go right the year before. Whether it’s seating arrangements, organization, or routine, each year feels like it goes better than the last!
