Harry Potter hits the runway!

We’ve found that readers often turn into evangelists when it comes to their favorite books. And of course, a perfect example of that is the legions of Harry Potter fans.

Check out this amazing dress that 14-year-old Maya Villalobos made out of Harry Potter book covers and pages! It was part of the famous Fieldston Fashion Show, featured in Teen Vogue.

Maya’s awesome Harry Potter dress reminded me of all the other cool ways people turn their love of books into fashion statements. There are purses made from actual hardcover books! Earrings stamped with treasured Shakespeare stanzas! Tee shirts with Virginia Woolf’s screenprinted face! Why, just this week I purchased a bracelet featuring a quote from The Great Gatsby, my sister’s favorite book (she’s not alone — it’s the 15th most listed book on You Are What You Read!) (also, ssshhh: it’s her birthday present, so please keep it between us!).

How do you wear your love of reading? And how great is Maya’s dress?!

Nice article Morgan! You should check out our company Out of Print (www.outofprintclothing.com). We celebrate the world’s great stories through fashion. Our shirts feature iconic and often out of print book covers. Some are classics, some are just curious enough to make great t-shirts, but all are striking works of art. And for each shirt we sell, one book is donated to a community in need through our partner Books For Africa.

Wow! That is one amazing, creative dress! Maya looks stunning. I write book reviews to show my love of reading and talk about characters to my friends and family. Sometimes they visit me in my dreams.
