This just in: 42 new kid reporters join the Kids Press Corps

I’ve got some very exciting news to share this morning – the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps just added 42 new reporters! The applications were many, the selection was tough, and these pint-size reporters are about to have the experience of a lifetime.
Nearly 200 students sent in applications to join the 2010-2011 Kids Press Corps, and the new reporters were chosen by the SNKPC editors based on the quality of candidates’ lengthy and in-depth applications. Applicants were asked to conduct an interview and write a news report about their community, submit ideas for future stories, and write a personal essay explaining why they would like to be a Kid Reporter.
The 42 new kid reporters – including one from Mexico and another from Canada (we’re international now!) – will join 15 kid reporters from last year’s Kids Press Corps, bringing our grand total of kid reporters to a whopping 57. It’s going to be a great year!
Head on over to the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps site to see the 2010-2011 kid reporters, and keep visiting scholastic.com/kidspress to see their stories.
