5 Questions: The one in which we ask a Pilgrim about underwear

5 Questions: The one in which we ask a Pilgrim about underwear

By on November 23rd, 2010

I never thought that one day I would get to ask a Pilgrim what kind of undergarments they wear.
You heard right. And the answer was quite a fun surprise! The silly question came about when we caught up with Goodwife Elizabeth Hopkins from Plimoth Plantation, during the Scholastic virtual field trip last week (pictured at right). We asked her five basic questions: What is she thankful for? What’s her favorite Thanksgiving dish? What’s her favorite story that she’s passed on to her kids? What’s on her mind? And – my personal favorite – what kind of undergarments do Pilgrims wear? See the answers in our video interview:

Was that more than you wanted to know? I think it’s fascinating that their undergarments are actually one whole body piece – a sheath! Thanks for giving us a quick peek Goodwife Hopkins! Wait until I get to stun my Thanksgiving dinner guests with that fun fact.

Goodwife Hopkins last week appeared in our virtual field trip to Plimoth Plantation which had an estimated 1.547 million students participating in the live event.Goodwife Hopkins introduced us to her family and kids, her Indian friends and even gave us a tour of her house. Millions of students watched the live webcast from classrooms across the country. Schools even held special events and had auditoriums full of kids tuning into the show. Since the webcast there’s been an additional 160,000 replays – that’s a total of 6.35 million viewers to date!
