No spoilers, please! Suzanne Collins speaks out
By Morgan on August 10th, 2010
As the worldwide frenzy for Mockingjay grows, Suzanne Collins herself wanted to reach her fans with a brief reminder about how exciting it can be to read something so highly anticipated, and how important it is to be mindful of your fellow readers. Below, you’ll find a statement directly from Suzanne. We hope all Hunger Games fans take it into consideration!
Dear Readers,
I can’t tell you how excited I am for the release of Mockingjay on August 24th, and how grateful I am for all the anticipation that’s been expressed in advance of the release date. One of the most important things to me is that everyone in the world is going to be able to experience the final book of The Hunger Games all at the same time, and be able to discover what happens in the book without hearing about it elsewhere first. Word will certainly travel fast, but I urge you – before or immediately after August 24th – to please respect the other Hunger Games fans worldwide and avoid sharing any spoilers, so that the conclusion of Katniss’s story can unfold for each reader the way it was meant to unfold.
I am eagerly looking forward to August 24th and the entrance of Mockingjay in the world. Then (and only then) let the conversations begin!
Sincerely,
Suzanne Collins

Hmmm..wonders is Suzanne Collins saw this picture before she wrote that message.
It made me cry a little inside. Still, I'm patiently waiting till August 24th…

We've preordered it, and look forward to receiving it on our doorstep on 8/24. I had to remind my tween not to share too much either.
I don't care if it's 8/24 or 11/24 — no spoilers!!!

I promise – even though I will review the book as soon as possible – I avoid spoilers ALWAYS… books should always be read and enjoyed as they were meant to be…

Well said. Hate to find out the ending beforehand. And for us that like to review books and share them with our friends, expressing our passion for a book without giving spoilers is an artform in and of itself!

Thanks for the reminder! I hate it when people give spoilers out so freely just because they can.

Thanks Suzanne! I hate spoilers and always review without them too. And since there wont be any midnight releases where I live, I'm hoping to avoid all mention of the plot until I can actually read it for myself
Cant wait for the 24th!!!
